Is it true that Every Girl Gets Confused? I sure hope not...

It's true. I sure hope not that every girl gets confused.  I mean it's possible, but what makes it a bad thing?

ABOUT THE BOOK

How can she choose between the love she thought she lost and the love she stumbled upon in the aftermath?

Katie Fisher and Brady James may be a match made in heaven, but that doesn't seem to guarantee them a happily ever after accompanied by angelic choirs. Katie's almost-fiancé Casey is back in Fairfield, ready to rekindle their relationship. And there's nothing Katie's parents want more than for their small-town girl to leave Dallas and come home for good.

But can she really leave Brady behind? And will she ever be able to wear that gorgeous wedding dress she won?

MY THOUGHTS

Every Girl Gets Confused is adorable, funny and just plain cute. And I don't just mean the cover.  The characters gets to you. Every one has their quirky side that makes it comical in many scenarios, including everything to do with weddings. As you read this, you might have images of dress tearing, pearls falling, cake toppling and whatever cliches of wedding disasters that comes to mind, but that is not the case.  The humor you find are subtle, yet efficient. I mean, I almost snorted my water out when I read about the prune juice.  Just hilarious.

We start off with the forever mushiness of Queenie (who, by the way, from the sound of it was stern and serious in Book 1, Every Bride Needs a Groom, which I did not have the pleasure of reading, yet).  Ahh, is that what love does to someone? *sigh.  Speaking of Book 1, yes - Every Girl Gets Confused is the second book of the Brides with Style series.  You might want to read book 1 to kind of get a little more background, but it's not necessary. I was able to understand the gist of what went on in Book 1 for us to get to where we are in Book 2.  So no worries there.

Now back to the characters. Besides Queenie, we have the pleasure of laughing out loud with others in regards to Alva,  then find Eduardo endearing,  thinking Dahlia, Twiggy and Madge needing a chill pill, not loving Mr. Casey over there at all, etc, and I haven't even gotten to our main girl and boy, Kate and Brady.  Kate is just cute. I kept thinking that as I was reading. Maybe it was a preconceived thought because of the cover, but I just do. You'll find her enthusiasm contagious.  Her faith in our forever consistent God relays that very message, that God is our constant, even during changes in our lives, whether good or bad. As Janice so aptly put in the novel, "...I can trust Him in the seasons...spring always comes. Even when dreams are dying or relationships are ending, springtime is coming." (248).  Brady as the tall and handsome professional basketball player dealing with his own insecurities after knee surgery. How he finds faith in who God has planned for him to be is another wonderful theme that brings us full circle back to who He is. And as the crux of this novel, a refreshing theme about who God is, and how we can rely on Him. With Him as a constant on your side, even "when things don't always work out like you think," sometimes they "work out better." (31).

In all, a very easy and amusing read, with a certain level of affectionate romanticism spread out that you will love.  I might just have to go back and read book 1 to get more laughter out on a gloomy day. *wink wink.

NOTE:  I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher, Revell for an honest review.
