Fairy Loot March 2017, April 2017 & May 2017 Unboxing and Mini Reviews

Happy weekend! I want to introduce a new box that I've started subscribing. I've been on the fence for this one for a long time simply because this bookish box company ships out of the UK. Shipping will indeed be crazy! What company is this? FAIRY LOOT!

A little about Fairy Loot

Fairy Loot primarily focuses on fantasy Young Adult and Young Adult crossover books. Every month Fairy Loot have a different theme and select an exciting new title with 4-6 hand selected goodies. Their boxes are lovingly packed in the heart of London and sprinkled with fairy dust, every time.

Cost: £26/month + Shipping (to the US, it is £14/month) ≅ $33.27 + $18 shipping = $51.27/month

To test it out, I've decided to pick up their anniversary box, which is the March 2017 box. All in a special purple color for the occasion. Plus spoilers on the web had noted that it will include some very fancy things. Reviews for this company have always been top notch, so here's the verdict:

March's theme: Myths & Monsters

My Thoughts:  Love. How cool are these items? The book is just gorgeous! No idea what it's about, but it's just pretty and the pages are sprayed blue to match the cover!! Love fantasy or fairy tales? This box....*sigh.

Value: In my mind, totally worth it, since it's so different than other boxes!

April's theme: Dreams & Wishes

My Thoughts:  A book, a mug, a tote, a candle, a notebook and a lapel pin! All gorgeous! Enough said.

  • To The Stars Ceramic Mug, designed exclusively by Risa Rodil - $15 (quote featured is from A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas)
  • Little Dreamer Tote Bag designed by Miss Phi – $20 (quote from The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon)
  • Gemstone Notebook by Portico, includes foil detailing and gilt edges - $10 (12 different gemstone designs sent out)
  • Reverie Candle from Meraki Candles –  ≅ $5
  • The Dream Jar Pin exclusively by House of Wonderland≅ $7.61
  • Follow Your Dreams Magnet by Fairy Loot
  • Book: Given to the Sea by Mindy McGinnis - $10.58 (on Amazon)
  • Bonus Items: Spindle Fire Postcard and Hunted Postcard

Total estimate value is around $68.19  if you had to purchase these items separately. I think it's totally worth it with the awesome and fun curation. I'm not familiar with the book, but will definitely give it a try. Plus it includes an author note and a signed bookplate.

May's theme: Warriors & Legends

My Thoughts:  I've met author Renee Ahdieh, who is hilarious and fun to be around! So I'm looking forward to this new book of her's. Plus that cover is quite pretty. Tea!! Jasmine and lychee, now that's interesting! Plus the awesome bookmark and the candle and a second book. Again, when I opened this box, I absolutely loved it.
  • Warriors & Legends exclusive tea blend from The Tea Leaf Co. + a coupon for future purchase - ≅ $7
  • World Mythology in Bite-Sized Chunks by Mark Daniels – $11.50
  • Opposing Tin Candle from In the Wick of Time, 2 oz - $4
  • Celtic Socks by Fairy Loot –  $10
  • One Ring wood bookmark by Ink and Wonder - ≅ $6.80
  • Metallic Feather Pen by Flora's Wonder Emporium - ≅ $2
  • Book: Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh - $11.31 (on Amazon)
  • Bonus Items: Naondel Sampler

Total estimate value is around $52.71  if you had to purchase these items separately. Though it's very close to the total amount paid, I think it's still worth it because of the curation. Plus the value of an author note and signed bookplate will bump that value up a bit.

So what do you think overall? Worth it or not? So far, I think everything was fun and I'd keep. Though the mermaid mirror may go on my giveaway stash since I really don't need it. Other than that, I think everything else would be a keeper or a fun thing to have around.
