ABOUT THE BOOK & THE
AUTHOR
"Machines beeping,
the blur of medical staff running, a crash cart whizzing into an ICU room, was
there any hope?
A young woman lay, packed in ice, as doctors attempted to somehow stop the swelling in her brain that threatened to take her life… and her family waited.
Six days turned into
eight weeks. She awoke to discover that she was not the same. She saw two of
everything, couldn’t feel half of her face, couldn’t hear from one ear, and
could not speak. She couldn’t even tell anyone that she felt hopeless… or could
she?

Helo’s story is not one
of survival, or of salvaging a life through a broken body. It is not about
endurance through pain, but victory because of it. While the family heard her
silence, God heard her prayer. Helo’s story is simply this: Wherever you are
and whatever you are going through, God is right there. He doesn’t need to be
recognized by you, to be there for you. He can replace
fear with courage and discouragement with determination, if you let Him. Helo
did, and that is how she found hope.”
MY THOUGHTS
In times of trouble, how many get caught up in their own lives and forget the One that will comfort you, and bless you? I admit. Sometimes I do, and sometimes there are questions. When I can no longer fathom what to do, I realize and turn to Him that strengthens me. Recently, I saw on social media this image shared through TobyMac's SpeakLife Ministries:
It is so true. And with this thought in my mind, I am once again reminded of Helo Matzelle's struggles, determination and faith in God. Halo Found Hope is Helo's memoir. She shared with readers her story, which is as much is God's story of her. It is a testimony of how miracles do and can happen with God. This is a testament of Helo's strength, courage, faith, hope and love in our heavenly Father, even when times are dire and hope doesn't seem to exist. It did for Helo. Through prayers, Helo found hope. Her story is awe-inspiring, not because of how to endure pain, but what she did with the pain. She let Him be there.
"Prayer replaces discouragement. Talking to God quietly or out loud is extraordinary and a privilege. He is forever faithful. He knows us better than anyone else and will meet us wherever we are. He is our comfort, our shield, and refuge. By spending time with Him, we get to know Him and acknowledge who has authority over our lives. he is one amazing love." (109)I can go on and on. It is like reading about a friend because Helo bared all for us - her thoughts, her insecurities, her prayers and her hope.
