Are you ready for another healthy diet plan? Well, you might want to give this bestseller a chance.
ABOUT THE BOOK
Forget the Fad Diets, Join the Food
Freedom Movement
Counting
calories is out. All the food groups are in. Becoming trim and
healthy doesn’t have to be difficult or painstaking anymore. After trying
almost every fad diet out there, Serene Allison and Pearl Barrett, creators of
the Trim Healthy Mama movement, took matters into their own hands. Through
trial and error and much research, they created the TRIM HEALTHY MAMA PLAN, the
breakthrough lifestyle program to help readers of all ages and stages get
healthy, slim down and keep off the weight once and for all.
Based on the authors’ successful self-published book, this simplified, improved, practical plan shows readers a unique way to lose weight and get healthy by eliminating sugar, and still eating hearty, delicious food. The biblically-sound and highly effective eating approach centers on Satisfying meals (which include more fats and protein) and Energizing meals (which include more carbs and protein), as they are the key to success. Scrumptious whole, unprocessed foods, including fats, blood sugar friendly grains, proteins, fruits, and vegetables, are eaten in a way that boosts metabolism, yet still fits into anyone’s hectic lifestyle. It’s family friendly and effective for pregnant and nursing mothers, pre or post- menopausal women, and also those without weight or health issues—even men and growing children.
The book includes menu plans, a list of key super foods to eat on plan, time-saving tips, and pantry stocking and lifestyle advice to help readers successfully reach their goals.

MY THOUGHTS
So, I started this Trim Healthy Mama Plan by Pearl Barrett and Serene Allison differently. I had the cookbook version, Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook first and was intrigued, so had to read up on the actual plan book. If you're interested in checking out my review, click here.
Reading through Trim Healthy Mama Plan, I was fascinated and honestly felt that this was an easy plan to understand. Ultimately, the limit of sugar is the main goal. There are many different options, and most notably the authors advocate Stevia, which I myself don't care for. They're okay with alternative sugar substitutes but one must be careful in terms of how much in comparison to use. What I love about this book is the many careful descriptions and thoughts (backed by research references) of the authors on ingredients and food types. There's also the variety of sample meals that will fall under their "plan". However, do take note that this book does not include recipes on how to prepare these meals (that would fall under the Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook). The sample meals I'm talking about are ideas. For example, it is suggested as a sample breakfast
"Large egg-white scramble or omelet loaded with veggies. Choose from non-starchies like mushrooms, grated summer squash or zucchini, onions, tomatoes, peppers, and spinach..." (56)
This will be something I will try, along with the Trim Healthy Mama Cookbook, the Trim Healthy Mama Plan could be something that will promote a healthy eating lifestyle, not necessarily to reduce my weight. If that's a by-product, then so be it. In all, everything said in terms of food, makes sense and are true to create a healthy lifestyle and I look forward to further see it come to fruition. In closing, I really love what the authors wrote:
"Let's not make eating become something so difficult that regular folks are robbed of the satisfaction of knowing that they can attain a healthy diet without nitpicking up a storm or draining their lat penny to do it. Where is their beacon of hope for a healthier life when all they read on the Internet are constant top-ten lists of what to avoid? It sounds impossible and miserable, so ti causes many to simply give up. We need to make feasible healthy food choices and let God take care of the rest." (292-293)
NOTE: I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher, Harmony Books through Blogging for Books for an honest review.
