MY THOUGHTS
An interesting approach to exemplifying God and the food He has provided. The Daniel Fast for Weight Loss focuses on changes to one's lifestyle and ultimately weight through one's relationship with God and how that in turn helps you understand your relationship with food.
With preparation to your mind, body and emotions during this fast, The Daniel Fast for Weight Loss, provides readers a guide to meditation, a 21-day devotional, as well as 50 recipes to choose from to implement this plan for a healthier lifestyle that includes closer communication with God. The food aspects includes focusing on foods that are grown from a seed, which includes fruits, vegetables, nuts, legumes and such. I've only read through this book, and have not implemented this plan. So I cannot vouch for the results, but I must note, I do enjoy the discussion in the book brought on with references to the Bible. It is not only about food, but self-image and how the Bible talks of health in a spiritual, emotional, mental and physical state.
For those who's goal is for weight loss, I particularly like Chapter 7, "Ten Habits Practiced by Healthy Individuals", which list the ten habits, and then go about explaining each. These habits are practical and "easy" to do. Not only for weight loss, but I also think this approach will result in a healthier lifestyle. So go for it! Print or write it out on an index card and remind yourself.
In all, a great book on your spiritual journey in understanding what a healthy lifestyle means, biblically, emotionally and physically. The plus side, possible weight loss too!
