ABOUT THE BOOK
Intensity.
Skill. Tenacity.
The bodyguards of Elite Guardians Agency have it all.
When it becomes clear that popular psychiatrist and radio personality Wade Savage has a stalker, his father secretly hires Elite Guardians to protect his son. But when Wade's bodyguard is attacked and nearly killed, agency owner Olivia Edwards must step in and fill the gap.
Olivia's skills are about to be tested to the limit as Wade's stalker moves from leaving innocent gifts at his door to threatening those closest to him--including Olivia. But in her mind, even more dangerous than the threats to her life is the hold her handsome client has on her heart.

MY THOUGHTS
Intense, fast-paced and exhilarating! A suspense thriller at its best! As you read Always Watching, your heart will quicken and your mind stimulated with the many twists and turns the author, Lynette Eason throws at you. I enjoyed every aspect of this book, from the suspense (as you can obviously see), to the romance and to the camaraderie the team of Elite Guardians have for one another, including the other law enforcement agencies brought in on the case.
Olivia is not like many heroines we read in a novel. True, she is gorgeous, but she's the quiet, but intelligent type that is always alert and professional. Her feelings are put to the test as one of her team members were attacked, and she had to take over in protecting a psychiatrist who's bent on getting into her head.
Wade is not the hero of the story. He is the one that needs to be protected, and that's all fine by me. I love the switch of dynamics here from traditional male save damsel in distress type of scenarios, to a smart agency of female trained operatives protecting the potential love interest of our heroine. Wade is intuitive and protective of those he love, only he doesn't know that those that get close to him, somehow winds up getting hurt. Will he risk getting Olivia involve, or is it too late?
Always Watching will have you nearly hyperventilating to finish reading and get to the end. When you're there, you wish you can go right back into it again. O, don't worry if you've guessed the culprits early on like me, I still wanted to know if I was right or not, because there were quite a few curve balls Lynette threw in there! Get your copy, and lets pray there will be no delays for book 2, Without Warning due out in the summer. I'm impatiently waiting.
QUOTABLE QUOTE
"...keep in mind it's not something that just happens by osmosis. It's like any other relationship. You have to work at it. You have to get to know God on a very intimate level in order to have the kind of faith that will withstand the storms life throws at you. It's a good thing that we only have to have the amount of a mustard seed." (292)
NOTE: I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher, Revell in exchange for an honest review.

I've been hearing a lot about Lynette Eason lately! I admit I've never read her work, but it's looking like I'm going to have to! This sounds great :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Emily. It is good. One of the best I've read. I'm so happy to have read great suspense this year so far, and we're only in February!!!
ReplyDeleteAH! I should have requested this...*sigh*. I'm trying to be careful about what I ask for since my time is limited and I'd already gotten Irene Hannon's new book, but this looks really good!
ReplyDeleteEmilie, maybe it's still available on NetGalley? It really deserves a place in our bookshelves, so I'd recommend a buy! =)
