ABOUT THE BOOK

God teaches and refines us through pain and suffering. Author Sherri Burgess, wife of Rick Burgess of The Rick and Bubba Show, knows this to be true. After the earthly death of her youngest son, Bronner, Burgess asked, "Why?" And God answered.

Journey with her through this powerful testimony of healing to understand the purpose behind the pain. An empowering resource for book-club discussion or small-group Bible study, this is much more than simply a retelling of an inspiring story. It is a call to action beckoning us to know our Holy God like never before.

MY THOUGHTS

Be warn. Those who pick up Bronner by Sherri Burgess will shed some tears. No. Not some, but a lot. I teared, sobbed, cried so many times reading through this short, but heavy laden book, that my sinuses were cleared, nose dried and my eyes red and sting-y from all the wiping and re-wiping.  Even thinking about this book, the story in it and the pain parents feel with a a tragic lost of a child aches me.  If we feel this way, how do you think our mighty Father feels when even one of us gets lost?

Blubbering aside, Bronner is a brutally honest, emotionally heart-wrenching and ultimately inspiring and encouraging read on turning your grief to God, and let Him carry you through. Backed with Scripture, Sherri shared with us her raw emotions, questions, and understanding.  A testament of having a relationship with Him, and trusting His plans for us, and for our love ones.  It's beautiful and you should read it. Read it now or read it in the future, either way, your take on it may be different depending on your stage and journey in life, but one thing is for sure. You will be inspired and even encouraged by the story of Bronner and Rick and Sheri Burgess to seek Him first - hold out to Him and not lose faith.  Don't forget the reader's guide in the back of the book. Use it as a study guide, a bible study or even for a small group/book club.
"God's provision is deep and wide, always giving us exactly what we need exactly when we need it." (49)
God will let bad things happen, but He can use the bad things, things that break you and make something beautiful out of it.  Trust in Him.  I'm learning and trying.
