MY THOUGHTS
"We need our people.  We need friends standing in our corner, cheering us on, believing in us.  We need listening ears, shares of inside jokes, keepers of secrets.  We need those who laugh when we laugh, cry when we cry, and then pass the chips and salsa...that's the gift of friendship." - Dawn Camp (19)
Well said, Dawn.  Just like in her first book, The Beauty of Grace, The Gift of Friendship is a collection of personal stories from writers, with the power to bring & remind us of God's grace in our lives.  Every single story in this book is one of beauty, of personal shared moments with a friend or community that lends to God's plan for us as relational beings.  I can honestly say each story touched me on some level and brings forth past memories, or a sudden desire to call a friend or send a note to one. These are heartfelt stories of friendships that may be simple, short or of the past, but each story shares of a sense of communal belonging, of being loved and wanted and remembered.  A book of blessings and memories that will captivate you, disarm you and make you feel. And that's why, this is a winner. Get one for yourself, and share one or more with others. As you read this, many of those that have entered your life at some point will pop in your mind, and those are the very people that will appreciate this gift, and your gift - your gift of friendship.

  4. Thanks so much for bringing this book to my attention, Annie - I must have it, lol!! So many wonderful authors - I would be devastated without the blessings I receive through the friendships of my sisters-in-Christ (including you, dear one)!!

Liz Curtis Higgs is the one who introduced me to Christian Fiction - I had read Christian non-fiction until reading each of her non-fiction and then moving on to her beautiful fiction. I have just about every book (fiction, Bible study, devotional), cd, DVD, cassette tape, VHS tape, etc. she has written/contributed to - since she started writing many years ago (including those with just a short post or devotional), and she has signed them all. She laughs at me - commenting I have books she didn't even know she was a part of, lol (I've purchased a couple of those and given to her)!! If you haven't heard her speak, Annie - you MUST!! Guaranteed to be the experience of a life-time!! She lives near me - I've been blessed to hear her speak numerous times, including traveling to women's conferences she has been a part of. She will be speaking at a church near me in April - praying all is well so I can attend!!

Thanks for the giveaway opportunity!! Shared post!!

  11. When I first saw this book a few weeks back I immediately thought of my best friend from high school. We became friends our sophomore year and have been tethered together in one way or another since. I became a Christian at the age of 12 where she was in her 20's. It was amazing how our friendship deepened even more after her decision to follow the Lord. In the 20 years since, she has amazed me with her spiritual growth and wisdom; far surpassing my own.
