ABOUT THE BOOK
Fourteen miles east of Peachtree, Alabama, a secret is hidden. The secret's name is Annabel Lee.
She doesn't know why her enigmatic uncle has stowed her deep underground in a military-style bunker. He's left her with a few German words, a barely controlled guard dog, and a single command: "Don't open that door for anybody, you got it? Not even me."
Miles away in Atlanta, private investigator Trudi Coffey is visited by a mysterious older man calling himself Dr. Smith. He's been trailing a man for a decade--a man she met through her ex-partner Samuel Hill--and the trail has led him to her office. The last thing Trudi wants to do is to contact Samuel. But it will take both of them to unravel this mystery--before it's too late.

MY THOUGHTS
As a thriller, Annabel Lee is suspenseful and blood-curdling to say the least. I mean, just look at that cover! The many twists that have you confused and searching for answers will keep you turning the pages until the reveal. As a Christian thriller, I do find some scenes a little too - not graphic, but overtly violent? Is there such a thing? There were moments that the tension from the suspense have chilled me a bit, but if you love thrillers, this is one that will have you on your toes. With memorable characters with interesting pasts, Annabel Lee doesn't just rely on the suspense aspect, but a full variety of features to make this worth the read. From fascinating characters, to twist-filled suspense, with messages of forgiveness and redemption, Mike Nappa have created the start of a great series that stands alone, yet gives you something to expect from the author for his future novels.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Great thoughts, Annie. Several of my friends have enjoyed this book, if "enjoyed" is the right word. But I'm not a suspense fan anyway, so I might have to pass on this one.
ReplyDeleteAnnie, Annable Lee sounds intense! I enjoy a great suspense novel. Thank you for your review.
