"...points...to the certain Source of hope and direction for whatever lies ahead." (back cover)

Series Title:  Pocket Prayers (A collection of 6)
Author: Max Lucado & Others
Publisher:  Thomas Nelson
Release Date:  March 29, 2016
Genre: Christian Fiction

Bestselling author Max Lucado has teamed up with six authors to write the Pocket Prayers series for those in need of peace, renewal, rest, faith, hope, joy, direction, serenity, and courage.

Short, simple prayers are very effective, which is why each book in the series contains forty guided prayers and complementary scriptures for any situation, including for:

-Moms (written with daughter Andrea Lucado)
-Grads (written with daughter Andrea Lucado)
-Dads (written with Mark Mynheir)
-Military Life (written with Mark Mynheir)
-Teachers (written with blogger Jennifer Hale)
-Friends (written with Betsy St. Amant)

Max Lucado & company put together a series of Pocket Prayers, published by Thomas Nelson, designed specifically for 6 types of roles. A Pocket Prayer for moms, dads, graduates, the military life, teachers and friends.  With 40 prayers in each book, each with a corresponding Bible verse, we are brought back to focus on the One that can give us hope, direction and ultimately peace in our daily lives.  As mentioned, each is tailored to a specific role, and though I don't fit into some of these roles, reading through them gives me a glimpse of what burdens this person may have.  Furthermore, this insight also softens my heart as compassion and understanding grows.  Since I am reviewing the series as a whole, I appreciate each of these pocket sized Pocket Prayers, because I understand that they each serve a purpose for their specific target audience. With that said, these will make great gifts.  Give it as a set, for the recipient to share, or gift the specific one you're thinking of.  I can also see how perfect it would be included in a gift basket.

For that, I'll be passing along Pocket Prayers for Dads to my brother in law, Pocket Prayers for Moms to my sister in law, Pocket Prayers for Graduates to my nephew who will be graduating high school this year, Pocket Prayers for Friends to my beautiful and sweet girlfriend, Kathleen and Pocket Prayers for Teachers to a sweet girl who's new to teaching. The only one I'm not personally associated with is the Pocket Prayers for Military Life.

With that said, I would like to give away my copy of the Pocket Prayers for Military Life to someone that will find use with it. (I've only read it once for review purposes). To enter for your chance to win, please leave a comment (with your email ) letting me know who this will be for (could be for yourself) and how we can pray for this person.  This portion of the giveaway ends Friday, April 22 at 10:00 AM EDT. Winner will be selected via Random.org. US addresses only.  Don't forget to scroll down for the tour-wide giveaway!

NOTE:  I received a complimentary copy of this book through Litfuse Publicity Tours for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own. For my review policy, please see my Disclosure page.

  1. I would love to be entered in this giveaway for your copy of the Pocket Prayers for Military Life! I'm an USAF mom, and I pray daily for my son and our military. After reading the book myself, I would pass it on to my son as an addition to his morning Bible reading time. Thanks again!
