All children’s book illustrator Claire Turner ever wanted was to be a mother. After six years of trying to conceive, she and her husband, Josh, have finally accepted that she will never be pregnant with a child of their own.

Yet once they give up hope, the couple gets the miracle they’ve been waiting for. For the first few months of her pregnancy, Claire and Josh are living on cloud nine. But when she begins to experience debilitating headaches, blurred vision, and even fainting spells, the soon-to-be mother goes to the doctor and receives a terrifying diagnosis. Since any treatment could put their unborn baby’s life at risk, the Turners must carefully weigh their limited options. And as her symptoms worsen, Claire will have to make an impossible decision: Save her own life, or save her child’s?

USA Today and New York Times bestselling author Steena Holmes brings us an unforgettable story of one woman’s courage and love.

Saving Abby by Steena Holmes is beautifully written, romantic and emotionally intimate, at least for me. From the very beginning, I understood Claire. Though our experiences may not be exactly the same, it reminded me of my similar journey. Just thinking about what to write for this review have me in tears.  I know what it's like to wish for a child. I know what it means to be exhausted all the time that your "tired of being tired." I know what it is like to carry a child, and I know how it felt when your doctor asked you to choose yourself or your baby. This story is real. To many out there that knows what being a mother is about, and to me, it hit home. It reminded me of I am here,  my journey with losing a part of me, and essentially God's grace that carried me through.

Saving Abby is heartbreaking, and engaging, tugging at your hearts, wanting you to see the joy of love, the heartache of lost and the sweet meaning of love all over again. Steena Holmes' lyrical prose in presenting the present and the past gave us a full story, with character development, and plot reasoning.  It moves swiftly along, letting you travel with them on their many physical and emotional trips, as well as through the ups and downs of their desires met. It embodied the meaning of strength, courage and love.  I might be bias because of my personal feelings towards Saving Abby, but nonetheless, I would highly recommend this book.
