Her future--and her heart--hang in the balance.
Two years ago, Prosperity Jones waved farewell to her beloved David as the army sent him to faraway Key West. Now with her parents gone, she has but one prospect for the future: make the dangerous journey from Nantucket to Key West to reunite with David and secure a happier life.

But when Prosperity arrives penniless in the South, she is dismayed to find David has not been eagerly awaiting their reunion. In fact, he is married to someone else. Scrambling to survive and nursing a broken heart, Prosperity gains the friendship--and the affection--of a kind doctor. Could he be the answer to her loneliness? Or will her life be upended by circumstance yet again?

With a deft hand, Christine Johnson fills the senses with the sights, sounds, and smells of Key West in this heartwarming story of honor lost, honor redeemed, and a love forged in adversity.

Honor Redeemed by Christine Johnson is in truth a romantic story of long distance love that changed, yet it's not always what it seems.  I think the premise is intriguing enough, and the romance triangle(s) can definitely keep the drama going. The character developments throughout are strong, especially with David and Prosperity, and their history. As our main leads, I expect no less. However, I also am not too fond of Prosperity. She's impulsive at times and seems to always jumps to the wrong conclusions of things, especially with David. Her own choices and mistakes makes it hard for one to feel for her as the victim, or the heroine. The misunderstandings seem to drag on and on.

As a story, it's full of intrigue with a message of forgiveness that seems fairly abrupt.  As an historical fiction, it is merely a setting, with not too much elaborate visual details. I do think as a romance, it is successful and for fans of historical romance, it hits the mark. Unfortunately, it doesn't create a strong emotion from me.
