Nerdy Post Harry Potter June 2016 Unboxing Reveal & Review

I love the lettering artwork done by Alexis Lampley of Nerdy Post. So when I saw that the month of June's theme was Harry Potter, I had to add it to my HP collection.  So I was excited to see what that entails!

What is Nerdy Post, you ask? Nerdy Post is a monthly subscription service of fandom awesomeness. It includes many lettering artwork by Alexis, and other stationary items with a monthly theme.  This subscription, currently is on a month by month basis only for $21, which includes shipping. For stationary fans, this is one subscription you'll just LOVE.

Now, lets check out what's included in the June HP themed package!

How awesome, you must be thinking, so read on for my thoughts on each item!

First, I must say, the copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, POP figure of Ron & Hermione are from my own collection, and is not included in Nerdy Post's subscription. Just so we're clear! *wink

Let's start with packaging. This is how it looked like when opened:

The postcard, notepad and the "Prefect" button was on the top of the taped cardboard pieces, wrapped in bubble wrap and then into the vinyl package mailer.

Unfortunately, the postcard moved during transportation, and it was sort of crushed. When it arrived, a big diagonal crease in the middle.

That said, it's not bad at all. The card is cute and great for those catching on the coloring faze.

I can't say that for the gem of the package, which is the Hogwarts school emblem design print (that is in between the taped cardboard).  The taped cardboard was the exact size of the print. So when the corners were crushed and mangled, so did the print. Not the best picture representation, but you can see the edges are a little beaten.

However, since it's just the edges, it wouldn't be too big of a deal once it's framed with a mat.

Update: I forgot this little tidbit, Nerdy Post sent an email out to all subscribers, willing to replace the damaged items, and they have since changed their packaging for future months! Now, that's what I call customer service!

Another favorite is the notepad, and it arrived without a scratch.

And the quality is great. It's a thick paper, definitely more than the standard 20# of copy paper. Want to know what it said? "I solemnly swear I'm up to no good."

Next, we have a beautiful sturdy and thick bookmark. Perfect for those hardbacks of Harry Potter.

At first, I thought the Lumos side would glow in the dark, but it doesn't.

Next the pretty cute "Prefect" button.  Sport this around, but be sure to know which house you're from!

And this vinyl sticker of Hogwarts castle. Cute.  I haven't decided where I want to stick this. Any ideas? Kindle?

So there we have it!

In all, I liked every one of these items, and that says a lot, since there usually is at least one item in a subscription box that I don't particularly care for. All of these are cute and perfect for any HP fan.  Here's another pic:

Would I recommend it? Yes, definitely, but for me, it would have to be a theme I care for.  June was Harry Potter as you can see. For July, it's Game of Thrones, and August's theme was just released! Doctor Who? fans will sure love August!

So for me, I'll have to skip the next two months, since I'm not too into either, yet.

Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Hi! Thanks so much for the positive review of our first box! I'm not sure if you saw the email we sent last month, but we would happily replace those damaged items for you at no cost! Just email us at nerdypost@gmail.com and we will take care of it! We had a small error with our order that led us to having cardboard the same size as the print, so we had more damage than we anticipated. We have since changed the packaging and it's much safer on the items. Thanks! Alexis

  4. Thanks Alexis! I did see that email, and I was going to mentioned it in my review! That's customer service. I'll update it! The damage was not too bad, still good after framing. Thanks though for allowing the ease of replacement.

    THanks for dropping by!

  5. So cool! We are a big HP family -- watching DH part 1 right now, in fact. My daughter would love the Nerdy Box for books that she loves. I'd consider getting her the Dr. Who box.

  6. Dianna, I think she'll love the Dr. Who box. From my stalking (hmm.. I need to stop saying that!), I mean from my researching online on Nerdy Post's instagram, looks like their new sturdy packaging will definitely do the job!
