Many movements in today's society have combined to create an atmosphere that at best teaches married couples very little about how to find happiness together, and at worst threatens to destroy the sanctity with which God intends his children to approach that union. Self-centeredness and misinformation have led many away from walking in the Spirit and loving their spouses in Christlike ways, disqualifying them from the blessings that God has in store for his unified children. The Blessings of Unity offers insight and ideas for creating godly unity in our marriages centered around two key concepts:
Unity is achieved when a man and woman strive for agreement with God by processing His Will on every decision and in every issue. Through Biblically-centered discussions of discord, division, unity, discipleship, and prayer, and through exploring Biblical examples of unity, Richard Case offers husbands and wives practical and spiritual advice for working together in unity in the Spirit so that they can more perfectly present themselves to God for his divine approval.
1) Abiding in the Vine and walking in the Spirit, and2) Learning and applying the concept of unity.

The Blessings of Unity by Richard T. Case is a short read, but don't be fool by it's thin binding. This book that talks of "God's best for our marriages" is in depth and full of personal and biblical references. The author first asks readers to take a short quiz for bother husband and wife of the marriage to evaluate the unity level. I haven't taken this quiz with my husband, but looking through the questions, it's very similar to the pre-marital counseling we did before getting married. Disunity comes in first, and then the subsequent chapters focused on what can turn that around, bringing unity in a marriage, as God had intended. I'm no expert on this matter, though I do agree with many of the points and advice the author shared. In terms of subject of the book, I think every marriage should take steps to build and work on, which includes reading books of such subject matter.
When it comes to reading the book solely based on the reading aspect, I do find the writing dry, and can be read more like a lecture, than conversational. Despite such, each chapter is well outlined with numbered points and scripture referenced, taken from the New American Standard Bible version. I think the key points in abiding in God to seek unity in marriage makes this book one I would recommend.
