Mini Interview + Game + Giveaway: Dani Pettrey in the house!

Happy Book Birthday to Still Life by Dani Pettrey! In celebration, I have a little fun for y'all! I've happened to bug Dani for a little mini interview and a fun little jigsaw puzzle. And Dani offered a wonderful prize for a reader!! Are you excited? Let's start, shall we?

Thank you to Dani for dropping by and for the awesome prize for the giveaway! Tell us your short (elevator) spiel of Still Life.
Blacklisted in the photography business when one of her shots causes a scandal, but desperate to somehow continue in the profession, Avery Tate answered an ad for a crime scene photographer. She fully expected to be laughed at, but crime scene analyst Parker Mitchell hired her outright–taking time to teach her the trade. Now she’s half in love with the man, half terrified to even acknowledge her feelings, and completely hooked on the job–until the next crime hits too close to home.
Avery attends the gallery opening of a new photography exhibit to support her best friend who modeled for the show. The only image of her, though, is a chilling photo of her posing dead. Only the photographer insists he didn’t take the shot, and Avery’s friend can’t be found.
As Avery and Parker, along with Parker’s brilliant friends, begin to dig into the mystery, they find themselves face-to-face with a dangerous, relentless, and deadly threat which could endanger them all.
I'm sorry (not really) to say that I had some creepy goosebumps from Still Life even though I enjoyed the book so much. Tell us, how did you come up with these teeth-clenching suspense?

I’m not a plotter so I start with a really basic premise, which for Still Life was focused on the photography element and show. With that in mind, I sat down and started writing, and thankfully God let the story flow. It really was simply a ‘what if?’ idea that bloomed.
Which character would you want to warn readers about, either in a good or interesting way?
Oooh. Fun question. I suppose I’d want to warn readers about Parker. He’s been hurt and has walls in place, but there’s a well full of depth, charm, and intelligence just beneath the surface. Careful or you’ll fall in love ;)
O, you will! Now, I must say, that cover model for Parker, Ooooo HOT!! Whew! I need a fan to tear me away. Have you met him!!?! That wasn't the question, but have you?
Unfortunately, no. I did actually offer to be present for all the cover model photo shoots for the Chesapeake Valor series, but my publisher hasn’t taken me up on my offer. The fun fact is that Ken (the model) was a contestant on the most recent season of Survivor.
Who do you imagine Avery to look like? Picture please?
I picture Jennifer Morrison who is most known for her role of Emma Swan on Once Upon a Time. Super-secret share: I pictured Colin O’Donoghue as Parker.

Whew!! Fan on high please! Next! I love that you used Baltimore/Chesapeake area since it's quite close to me. How did you decide one this area?
I also live in the area and thought it would be really fun to share my neck of the woods with readers. The Chesapeake region is such a unique and vibrant area. I’ve loved getting to research places I thought I knew well, and discovered I had so much more to learn.
What can we expect in the next book of the series? Any spoilers you want to share?

Blind Spot will be Declan and Tanner’s story and will be out this coming October. Yay! I hope ya’ll will really getting to know the quiet and elusive Declan Grey a lot more.
Blind Spot sounds just as suspenseful and Declan and Tanner's chemistry in Still Life were already simmering! Can't wait!  Thanks again, Dani!

Someone Is Out There. Watching Her. Waiting.

Blacklisted in the photography business over a controversial shot, Avery Tate answered an ad for a crime-scene photographer. She expected to be laughed at, but crime-scene analyst Parker Mitchell hired her outright--and changed her life. But six months ago, when her feelings for Parker became too strong, she left his employ to sort out her heart.

Now, for the first time, Avery is facing the world that rejected her to attend the gallery opening of a photography exhibit for which her friend modeled. But the only image of her friend is a chilling photo of her posing as if dead--and the photographer insists he didn't take the shot. Worse, her friend can't be found, and so Avery immediately calls Parker for help.

As Avery, Parker, and their friends in law enforcement dig into the mystery, they find themselves face-to-face with a relentless and deadly threat.

  21. I have read all of the Alaskan Courage series and Cold Shot. I loved them all. Each one has its own unique twists and hooked me from the start. I loved the Alaskan Courage series because I have only read about Alaska - never been there but would love to. The series made me feel like I was visiting. Cold Shot might be my favorite but only by a slim margin. I live in Virginia so it was almost like it was happening nearby.
