Year-End 2016 Historical Fiction Favorite Reads + Giveaways

Welcome to my very late Year-End 2016 Favorites!!

My year end favorite reads are books I've read in 2016 for the first time (and not necessarily all reviewed here - eek! or reviewed in 2016 - a few were posted in January 2017).  They are also not all published in 2016, but majority am.

To start it off, here's what's going to happen. Every day in through February 28th (minus Sunday) at 6:00 PM EST
  1. I will tell you my favorite reads in the category of the day through their covers (you know how I love covers) and
  2. Remember, you can see my review of the book (in a new window) by clicking on the covers.
  3. Then you come back and fill out the Rafflecopter for a chance to win a prize!

(NOT in any specific order!)

Ahhh. Historical fiction. One of my favorite genres, as well as one of the most reviewed. Don't you just love it when a story takes you back to times you can't even fathom and it comes  alive for you? The settings, the story, the romance, the intrigue and the message - all imprinted into your mind the moment you read it.

We will have (3) winners:

Prize 1: (1) winner will win SIX of the above books from Bethany House Publishers

Note: To see which books are published by Bethany House Publishers,

  1. Some of my favorite historical fiction of all times are Little Women, Pride and Prejudice, and Gone with the Wind! Some of the newer historical fiction books that I enjoyed are the Ladies of the Manor series by Roseanna White and all of Jen Turano's series and Dawn Crandall's books. However, I pretty much adore all historical fiction, so I'm not sure I can even say I have a favorite. :)

  51. Favorite historical fiction of all time -- That is a hard question. Historical fiction is my favorite genre....

Last 5 years -- One I am constantly referring back to was The Lady and the Lionheart.

  52. Gosh, that's such a hard question. But one book I love is The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton.

  53. I don't think I can choose a favorite historical fiction of all time. My long time favorite authors are Janette Oke and Tracie Peterson. My recent favorite historical fiction would have to be A Noble Masquerade by Kristi Ann Hunter. Some other recently discovered authors that are becoming fast favorites are Karen Witemeyer and Jen Turano.

  54. I truly don't know if I could ever pick a favorite. Classic would be Louisa May Alcott's Little Women series. I own and treasure a set that was passed down (once given to my grandmother by her mother, then handed down to my mother, and now I own them), these books will always hold a special place in my heart.

Modern day...too many great ones to choose from! Kristi Ann Hunter's series, Carrie Turansky's, or Sarah E. Ladd. There are countless others too!

  55. I have just started reading Tessa Afshar and love her work in bibical fictions. I read many kinds of books but the historical is my fave type.
