Author Interview with Sarah Monzon, author of upcoming release, All of You + Deal

Are you ready to meet one amazing author? Today, I have Sarah Monzon on the blog to chat about her upcoming release, All of You! I tell you, Sarah's books had crept up to me last year with her debut, The Isaac Project and I just loved it.  (It released in 2015, but I didn't read it until 2016). And then her next book, Book 1 of the Carrington Family, Finders Keepers was - wow! Check out my reviews of both these books once you're done here to see what I'm talking about.

Sarah Monzon is a Navy chaplain's wife and a stay at home mom to the two cutest littles in the world. Playing pretend all day with them isn't enough, she spends the evenings after their heads hit the pillow to create her own imaginary characters. When she isn't in the world of make believe, she can be found in the pine forests of western Washington taking care of her family, fostering friendships, and enjoying all the adventures each day brings.

Her debut novel, The Isaac Project, skyrocketed to Amazon bestseller status while her Sophomore book, Finders Keepers, has finaled in contests such as the Inspy Awards and received a 4 star review from Romantic Times.

Just Commonly  Q&A with Sarah Monzon

1. Tell us a little about your upcoming release, All of You, Book 2 of the Carrington Family series.
Maryland, Present Day
Jacqueline Rogers can rebuild anything...except the shambles of her past. A restorer of vintage planes, she's worked hard to earn the reputation of being one of the guys. The last thing she needs is a former Navy pilot fighting his own inner demons stepping in to defend her from dangers she thought she’d outrun long ago. Some battles must be fought alone.
After a freak accident severs Lieutenant Michael “Finch” Carrington’s dreams, as well as two limbs, he’s left with nothing but a fragile faith and a duty-bound promise to watch out for his friend’s baby sister. A promise she insists is as unnecessary as it is unappreciated. But when she turns the tables and begins to weld together the broken parts of his life, it may be his heart that is in need of protection.

England, 1942
With the world at war yet again, Alice Galloway rejects her father’s traditional expectations and offers her piloting expertise to the Air Transport Auxiliary. She may be a woman in a man’s world, but when she overhears key intelligence, she must find the strength to transcend boundaries and her own fears. Or countless people may die.

Sometimes the past reaches forward to bring hope to the future.

2. What was your inspiration? What made you think you had to write this story?
I was inspired when I came across a photo of Noah Galloway. He is a veteran who served in the Army and lost an arm and a leg during service in Iraq. The image of him impressed on my mind, not to mention how he has overcome, his attitude, and his drive to continue doing the things he loves. I wanted to write a character like that. One that endured struggles beyond his control, wrestled with the outcome, and came out victorious through Christ’s strength.

3. I had a great time with Finders Keepers, the first book in the series. What parallels or similarities can we expect in this second book?
As with Finders Keepers, All of You is a split-timeline story. So definitely expect to be engrossed in the present and then transported back to the past, World War II to be specific. You will also be reunited with the whole Carrington family and see where their lives have taken them since Finders Keepers.

4. How about differences? What message(s) can we expect to encounter?
In Finders Keepers neither Trent nor Summer (the hero and heroine) were Christians when the book started. Trent blamed God for a tragedy, and that shaped a lot of his life. All of You is different. Michael is different. I don’t want to give the story away, but I hope readers will connect with him as he grapples with his questions without losing his faith.
Sounds like another story with a great message!!

5. Which part of the book is your favorite? Can you share a line/paragraph (without a spoiler)?
I have a couple of favorite parts, but I’m going to let you read the book and guess if you can figure them out. One is a part that makes me tear up every time I read it. The other is when Jack, the heroine, get a bit daring.

6. Let’s play character match up. If you could introduce one of your characters to any other character from another book, who would it be and why? And lucky for you, you have characters from different eras!
I actually think it would be fun if Isabella from Finders Keepers got to meet and talk with Alice from All of You. Isabella was a woman pretending to be a man and Alice, as a ferry pilot in the middle of a war, is a woman trying to make a way in a man’s world. I think they could have some fun stories to swap, don’t you?
LOL. I think you're right, well, you are the author! Haha.

7. Which secondary character is your favorite in All of You, and why?
That would probably have to be Dominic. He’s Jack’s almost-four-year-old nephew. I have a 2-year-old and a 5-year-old so I had first-hand inspiration while writing his character.
Awww.....

8. What celebrations do you have planned for readers on May 15th, All of You’s release date?
Be prepared for showers of confetti to rain down on all of your heads. Seriously though, what sort of things do you guys like to do to celebrate? Honestly, release days in my house usual look like any other day with laundry and dishes and grocery shopping all thrown in the mix.

9. Any news you can share with us on what’s your next step for the Carrington Family?
Gear up! Adam’s story is coming next.
Gearing up as we speak.... LOL!

10. What book besides yours of 2017 that you are most excited for?
I have to pick only one?!? REALLY?!? You are a cruel woman. Okay, if I have to pick only one, then I DO have to say I am soooooo excited about Count Me In Mikal Dawn. The cover is gorgeous and just so unique and the story sounds like it will so much fun to read.
*Evil laugh! Haha! Total agreement with Mikal's Count Me In!

11. What are you currently reading?
I have a few books I’m reading right now. My husband and I are reading Conspiracy of Silence by Ronie Kendig together. Hubby’s not a fiction fan so I’m trying to persuade him with this book. I’m also rereading Black Tiger by Sara Baysinger to gear up for the second book in the series, Ashen City, to release in a few days. And I may or may not have started Still Life by Dani Pettrey just a couple hours ago.

12. And last, can you give us 5 random facts about you?
  1. My mom took me to the doctor when I was little because she thought there must be something wrong with me. All I did was lay around on the couch with a book and a stuffed animal instead of running around the house playing like a “normal” kid. LOL. O goodness!!! I love this!!!
  2. I always eat a grilled cheese sandwich with a pickle on the side. Ummmm.....
  3. My husband asks me in the mornings if I want a little coffee with my creamer. LOL. Every day??! Sweet tooth there??!
  4. I’ve been called a lyrics Nazi. We call it inspiring.. hahahahahh
  5. I will answer you in a random song if it pops into my head. We must attempt that next time we meet in person!

SARAH, Thank you sooooo much for stopping in on the blog to chat with us about your new book! I look forward to reading it for sure!
