Just Commonly welcome authors to drop by and share with us their take on a book that embodies a predetermined Word of the Month! For the full year of 2017, every Monday at 7:00 AM EST, a new post by a new author will be live!

"Fun" is just such a fun word! And this month, tons of great recommendations from fellow fun authors! This week, let's see what book is fun for author of a favorite YA novel, Intermission, Serena Chase.
"When I think of summer fun, I picture happy things like colorful beach balls against a blue sky, sno-cones dripping on picnic tables, and sassy sunglasses set above big smiles. . ."

"Ah, June: the month summer truly arrives. When I think of summer fun, I picture happy things like colorful beach balls against a blue sky, sno-cones dripping on picnic tables, and sassy sunglasses set above big smiles. When I think of summer fun in terms of books, however, I think of two words:
Romantic Comedy.
Oh, how I love reading rom-coms in the summer! I simply crave them. One of my go-to rom-com authors is Jenny B. Jones—and one of my favorite Jenny B. Jones rom-coms is her 2011 release, Save the Date. This book sinks its toes into so many fun romance tropes, making it one of my favorite rom-com re-reads in the good ol’ summertime. It’s full of fresh takes on the celebrity/nobody romance trope, the love triangle trope, the knight-on-a-white-horse trope, and the wounded hottie trope (okay, maybe I just made that last term up, but I have a feeling a lot of readers are nodding along with me—because they totally get what a “wounded hottie” is—and I assume those who haven’t read this book yet are about to click over to Amazon to buy Save the Date. It’s okay. I support that decision, whole-rom-com-heartedly. I’ll wait.)
Everyone back? Good, because I wasn’t finished with my trope-love gushing yet.
There’s the fake fiancé trope, the hate-to-love trope, and—oh-my-rom-com-glory—it takes place in Charleston, South Carolina, so it’s got the sassy Southern trope, too!
Jenny B. Jones is a comic genius. I first fell in love with her writing through her blog, and then devoured her books. When I was new to Twitter, she was one of the first people I followed (umm . . . oh, wow. Sorry if you’re feeling stalked, Jenny.) Even on Twitter, she never failed to make me giggle or LOL or snort, even though she only had 140 characters to work with within that particular medium. Every time she has a new book come out, I do a little happy dance as I click to pre-order. And last year, when she agreed to endorse my latest release, Intermission? GAH. I may have even squealed out loud, because . . . #fanprobs. Here’s what she said about my book:
“FINALLY someone has written a YA for all us musical theater nerds! Intermission will pull you in like a big Broadway show with its swoony romance and a heroine you can root for. Serena Chase brings the theater world alive with this tale of first love, family drama, and a character who’s searching for her place in this world.” ~Jenny B. Jones, award-winning author of I’ll Be Yours and the Katie Parker Production series
If you like fun romantic comedies, I highly recommend you give Jenny B. Jones—any of her books, really, but specifically Save the Date—a try this summer!"

ABOUT LOVE, LACE and MINOR ALTERATIONS by Joy
Publisher: Candent Gate LLC
Release Date: November 15, 2016
Genre: Inspirational Contemporary Fiction / Young Adult
We are starlight on snow. The reflection of something already beautiful—absorbed, reflected, and remade into something . . . more.
And this kiss . . .
This kiss is everything I’ve needed to say . . . and longed to hear.
Sixteen-year-old Faith Prescott eagerly awaits the day she will exchange her small Iowa hometown for the bright lights of Broadway, but her success-driven parents want her to pursue a more practical career, labeling “artsy” people—including their daughter—as foolish dreamers worthy of little more than disdain.
When Faith meets nineteen-year-old Noah Spencer she discovers someone who understands her musical theatre dreams . . . because he shares them.
Faith’s mother despises everything about Noah—his age, his upbringing . . . even his religious beliefs—and she grasps at every opportunity to belittle his plans to study theatre and pursue a stage career. When those criticisms shift further toward hostility, resulting in unjust suspicions and baseless accusations, an increasingly fearful stage is set for Faith at home, where severe restrictions and harsh penalties are put in place to remove Noah Spencer from her life.
But Faith has never connected with anyone like she has with Noah, and no matter how tight a stranglehold her mother enforces to keep them apart, Faith will not give him up. Behind the curtain, Faith’s love for Noah continues to grow . . . as does her determination to hold on to her dreams—and him—no matter how high the cost.
Intermission is a heart-wrenching contemporary YA romance set against a backdrop of musical theatre and family drama. With coming-of-age themes that honestly explore gray areas of moral dilemmas, this novel traces the path of one talented teen girl as she crosses painful thresholds of first love, faith, and betrayal to take the necessary steps toward adulthood, independence, and the dreams that set her heart on fire.
