Buried Heart is the third and final installment of the Court of Fives series from Kate Elliot. I am a fan of young adult fiction.  Sadly I just don't get enough time to read it, but I'm glad this series was one that I had tried. If you're hoping to read a standalone book, this is not one of them. For readers to really be immersed in the author's world building, you must start from the beginning, Court of Fives.

As we end this series, I'm happy to say the conclusion is one that provides closure for many fans. Bittersweet as it may, it reminded readers why they started this series in the first place. As satisfied I am of the series, by the end of the series, I'm not sure if I can say Jes will ever be a favorite heroine, but her strength does shine through. There are plenty of drama and emotional tear-jerking around, but also lots of high-stake action sequences that'll have you turning the page until the very end, and that's how it should be.

Kate Elliott has been writing stories since she was nine years old, which has led her to believe that writing, like breathing, keeps her alive. As a child in rural Oregon, she made up stories because she longed to escape to a world of lurid adventure fiction. She now writes fantasy, steampunk, science fiction, and YA, including recent works Black Wolves, Court of Fives, and Cold Magic.

It should come as no surprise that she met her future husband in a sword fight. When he gave up police work to study archaeology, they and their three children fell into an entirely new set of adventures amid dusty Mexican ruins and mouthwatering European pastry shops. Eventually her spouse’s work forced them to move to Hawaii, where she took up outrigger canoe paddling. With the three children out of the house, they now spoil the schnauzer.
