How We Made the ESV Illuminated Bible from Crossway on Vimeo.

I don't think I've ever own a more beautiful Bible than The Illuminated ESV Bible from Crossway. I'm not going to compare the different versions or translations, but the presentation and ease of use of this Bible only. As a designer, I love the thought and creative interpretations of the artist, Dana Tanamachi illustrated in this Bible. With the gorgeous gold ink illustrations that at times span a full page, it's a delight when one is reading the Bible, and see the verse highlighted in these illustrations.
In terms of the layout, I find the font of a decent size, and particularly like the space on the edge of the page for users' own personal notes and sketches. Personally, I'm not sure I can do it! It's so pretty that I don't feel like I should mess with it. However, I think instead of color, I'll use my thin black ink pens to keep the contrast with the gold ink. The quality of this Bible is top-notch. The navy clothbound (also available in hunter green and burgundy red) gives it a beautiful touch of homeyness, and not too refine that we need gloves to touch! The sturdy cardboard slipcase is also clothbound and be sure to keep the Bible itself in good condition. In all, I'm very satisfy with this Bible. It'll make great gifts. Perfect timing if you ask me as the Christmas season will be upon us shortly!

This Bible looks amazing! I love the design on the front:) I like to take notes and highlight in my Bible, but the margins aren't very wide. I really like this as a gift for myself or for a friend.
ReplyDeleteGood luck then! It'll make a great gift for yourself or friend.
DeleteIt's beautiful!! I'm not sure if I could make myself draw in my Bible or not...but I'd love to try! ;) or...I also have a daughter I might give it to, if I win.

ReplyDeleteGood luck Renee!
DeleteMy current bible has no space for drawing plus the pages are so thin it would show through and ruin the opposite text. This bible would definitely be one for me as I continue my faith journey. I do love to draw.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome Danielle. I think drawing has a way to relax the mind.
