A murdered partner. A missing brother. Will Isabelle's silence protect those she loves . . . or delay justice?
Police officer Isabelle St. John loves her crazy, loud, law-enforcement family. She knows they'll be there for her when things get tough. Like when her partner is murdered and she barely escapes with her own life.
Izzy is determined to discover exactly what happened, and her investigation sends her headfirst into a criminal organization, possibly with cops on the payroll--including someone from her own family. With her dead partner's brother Ryan, a handsome homicide detective, shadowing her every move, Izzy's head is spinning. How can she secure justice for her partner when doing so could mean sending someone she loves to prison? And how will she guard her heart when the man she's had a secret crush on for years won't leave her side?

MY THOUGHTS
With intensity and anxiety inducing scenes, Oath of Honor by Lynette Eason starts the year of reading for this book lover with a bang. The first book of the new series, Blue Justice, I'm instantly captivated by the vibrant dynamics of the St. John family. That first scene, reminds me of my gatherings with my siblings, is fun and gives readers the first impression of what I presume will be our heroes and heroines of the future books in this series.
"Izzy. . . opened her can of Coke. . . Chloe wrinkled her nose. 'You won't eat something healthy, but you'll pour that into your system. You make no sense.'" (10)
O, au contraire Chloe, Izzy makes total sense to me. Izzy is good at what she does and she has a heart of gold. I followed her through the pages with twist after twist, and at some point, I want to reach out and give her a big hug. Ryan Marshall and Izzy makes quite a team, and this pair shares a friendship and possibly more by the end. I enjoyed their backstory and how interconnected their families are, but I also relish in the time they get to know each other, and the little secrets that came out.
"'Okay. So you sought me out, told me you had a problem, but you don't want my help, so you're not going to tell me what said problem is'. . . 'Exactly'. . . 'I'll never understand women..'" (135)
Oath of Honor is a great start to a series that is intricately balanced, yet able to hold its own with fervor for the honorable. A page-turner from the start, Lynette Eason's new book brings suspense, romance and tugs the heart-strings, all at the right moments.
Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher. I was not required to write a positive review, and have not been compensated for this. This is my honest opinion.
